A teenage girl in India lost her life after a 270 kg barbell fell on her while she was practicing weightlifting at the gym, according to local media.
The incdient took place in Bikaner city, where Yashika Acharya, 17, attempted to lift a heavy barbell under her trainer’s supervision.
However, she lost balance while lifting the 270kg weight, causing her to lose control of the barbell, which then fell on her neck, pinning her to the ground.

Powerlifting is a strength-oriented sport that features events such as squats, bench presses, and deadlifts. Although it is not included in the Olympic Games, it is recognized on an international scale.
This heartbreaking event added to the list of tragic incidents in sports. In 2014, Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes tragically died after being hit by a bouncer during a match.
