'International community has lost trust in US,' says Russian envoy to UNSC

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations,Vasily Nebenzya strongly condemned the recent US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, warning that such actions could lead to uncontrollable disaster and further destabilise the Middle East.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Nebenzya said, “Through its actions,  the US has opened a pandora box, no one knows what new catastrophes and suffering it will bring.”

He criticised the United States for abandoning diplomacy, stating that despite the IAEA chief’s warning that attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites could cause radioactive leaks and endanger the entire region and the world, Washington went ahead with its irresponsible strike.

Nebenzya emphasised that Iran’s nuclear program is operating in accordance with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) guidelines, and called the US strikes “dangerous” and “irresponsible.”

He accused the United States. and Israel, of acting as self-appointed global enforcers, “Much like Israel, the US sees itself as the highest judge in the land, empowered to mete out justice however it pleases.”

He further stated, “To safeguard its global hegemony, the United States is prepared to commit any crimes in violation of the international law."

Nebenzya said that Russia had repeatedly offered to mediate talks over Iran’s nuclear program but accused the US of being fundamentally disinterested in diplomacy.

He also condemned the US and Israeli narrative that portrays Iran as the aggressor, claiming this has eroded international trust

“None of our sensible colleagues in the international community will believe our American counterparts anymore,” he concluded.
