Iranian authorities said on Sunday that they have arrested two suspects over alleged links to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, as tensions between the two countries continued to escalate amid ongoing military exchanges.
“Two members of the Mossad terrorist team who were making bombs, explosives, booby traps and electronic equipment were arrested,” the Tasnim news agency reported, citing a police spokesperson.
The arrests were made in Alborz province, located west of Tehran.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Israel’s attack on his country this week sought to “derail” nuclear talks with the US.
“It is entirely clear that the Israeli regime does not want any agreement on the nuclear issue. It does not want negotiations and does not seek diplomacy,” Araghchi said while talking to foreign diplomats.
He said that the attack launched on Friday was an “attempt to undermine diplomacy and derail negotiations”.
