At least five Palestinians have been killed due to the violation of ceasefire by Israeli forces on Tuesday after a peace agreement was signed by world leaders at Sharm el-Sheikh Summit in Egypt.
The truce took effect on Friday, October 10, 2025, when the first phase of the ceasefire was approved by Hamas and Israel.
Last week, Hamas and Israel reached an agreement to halt attacks, under which all remaining Israeli captives, both living and deceased, would be returned in exchange for approximately 2,000 Palestinians currently held in Israeli prisons.
Gaza’s Civil Defence Agency reported that Israeli forces targeted five Palestinians in separate incidents, while the occupation army claimed its troops had opened fire on suspects who approached their positions.
The statement further said, “Attempts were made to distance the suspects.”
“Israeli quadcopter drones opened fire on civilians inspecting their homes in Shujaiya,” said Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence Agency.
The killings on Tuesday, however, highlight the ongoing challenges of maintaining the ceasefire, as hundreds of displaced Palestinians attempt to return to their homes.
The incidents occurred on the fifth day of the truce, which was brokered with the involvement of U.S. President Donald Trump.
