Supply chain disrupted as goods transporters’ strike continues nationwide

The nationwide strike by goods transporters has yet to end, with the movement of vehicles remaining suspended and the transportation of commercial goods worth millions of rupees being affected.

In Lahore, drivers and others associated with the transport industry are facing difficulties, while progress towards ending the strike in Sindh is expected.

Talks between goods transporters and the government were held at the Governor House in Karachi, where the transporters presented their demands to government representatives.

President of the Transport Alliance, Malik Shahzad Awan, said that an agreement had been reached with the government on most of the demands. However, he stressed that the strike would not be called off on the basis of verbal assurances.

“We need written minutes and a signed assurance,” Malik Shahzad Awan said, expressing hope that all of the transporters’ demands would be accepted.
