Israeli Defence Minister approved intensified strikes on Iran after Iranian m!ssiles were intercepted in Israeli airspace. The escalation comes despite a ceasefire announcement made earlier by US President Donald Trump.

Israel Katz ordered his forces to “respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”

Iranian ballistic missiles were reportedly detected over Israeli airspace, according to an Israeli minister.

The development comes after US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally agreed to a ceasefire. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iran yet.

Prior to the ceasefire taking effect, four people were killed and several others injured in Iranian missile attacks in southern Israel.

An Iranian missile attack in the southern city of Beersheba resulted in four deaths and multiple injuries on Tuesday, as the ceasefire between the two countries was set to begin.

Earlier, the US president had stated that the phased ceasefire would be a 24-hour process, with Iran unilaterally ceasing all military operations around 4 am GMT on Tuesday, followed by Israel ceasing hostilities 12 hours later.
