At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange made a powerful statement of solidarity with Palestinian children by wearing a unique T-shirt bearing the names of 5,000 Palestinian children martyred by Israeli forces since 2023.

The shirt also featured the bold slogan "Stop Israel," serving as a clear protest against Israeli aggression.

In a parallel show of support, renowned American actress Angelina Jolie paid tribute to Palestinian journalist Fatima Hassouna during her address at the festival.

The 23-year-old journalist was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on April 15, 2025, along with nine members of her family, when their apartment was destroyed.

Fatima Hassouna was known for highlighting the plight of the Palestinian people through her work, and her documentary was selected for screening at Cannes.

The tribute to her at such a prestigious platform served as a global message of solidarity with Palestinians, while Julian Assange’s symbolic gesture underscored the tragic loss of thousands of innocent lives.
