Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, announced the launch of the "International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution" at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The alliance aims to address the Palestinian issue and promote peace efforts in the war-torn region.

In his speech, Prince Faisal emphasised the devastating impact of the war on Gaza, citing "tens of thousands of civilians killed, systematic destruction, forced displacement, starvation, incitement, and dehumanization" as unacceptable consequences.

He stressed that "self-defense cannot justify such atrocities", which are documented in United Nations reports.

The Kingdom's FM expressed concern over the escalating regional tensions affecting Lebanon and potentially leading to a regional war.

"We are witnessing these days a dangerous regional escalation that affects the Lebanese Republic and leads us to the risk of a regional war that threatens our region and the entire world."

He urged for an immediate end to the ongoing war and violations of international law, holding accountable those obstructing the peace process.

"We wonder what remains of the credibility and legitimacy of the global system in the face of our inability to stop the war machine and the insistence of some on the selective application of international law in clear violation of the most basic standards of equality, freedom, and human rights."

Prince Faisal reiterated that establishing an independent Palestinian state is an inherent right and essential for peace. He appreciated countries that have recognised Palestine and encouraged others to join the international consensus.

"We affirm our appreciation for the countries that have recently recognized Palestine, and we call on all countries to be courageous and take the same decision and join the international consensus represented by (149) countries that recognize Palestine. Implementing the two-state solution is the best solution to break the cycle of conflict and suffering and enforce a new reality in which the entire region, including Israel, enjoys security and coexistence."

The alliance's primary objective is to achieve a reliable and irreversible path to a just and comprehensive peace.

"Today, in the name of Arab and Islamic countries and our European partners, we announce the launch of the "International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution," and we invite you to join this initiative, stressing that we will do our utmost to achieve a reliable and irreversible path to a just and comprehensive peace."

Prince Faisal extended an invitation to join this initiative, seeking contributions to "end the conflict and preserve international security and peace".
