US President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of a planned visit to Pakistan by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Fox New reported.
In recent days, the President had confirmed that a two-member US delegation, comprising Witkoff and Kushner, would travel to Islamabad.
The delegation had been scheduled to depart today, but Trump has now called off the visit during a conversation with US media.
He stated that the United States holds “all the cards” in the ongoing situation and that Iran can engage in talks with Washington at any time.
Trump added that undertaking an 18-hour journey for negotiations with Iran would not be worthwhile under the current circumstances, saying the delegation would not travel such a long distance for unproductive discussions.
It is worth noting that an Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad a day earlier.
The delegation held meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir before departing for further visits to Muscat and Moscow.
