US President Donald Trump has survived multiple assassination attempts and serious threats during his political career, both as a candidate and in office.
One of the most serious incidents took place in July 2024 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman fired from a nearby rooftop with a clear line of sight to Trump. A bystander was killed and Trump was injured in the ear. The attacker, identified as Thomas Crooks, was shot dead by security forces.
In September 2024, authorities foiled another attempt near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Prosecutors said Ryan Routh had spent weeks planning the attack before being spotted by a Secret Service agent and arrested before opening fire. He was later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
In a separate incident in February 2026, a man entered Mar-a-Lago armed with a shotgun. Trump was not present at the time. The suspect, Austin Tucker Martin, was shot dead by security after breaching the property.
