Bajaur youth builds homemade helicopter after six years of efforts

BAJAUR: A talented young man from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district has built a helicopter on his own after six years of persistent effort and experimentation.

Subhanullah, who comes from a working-class family, built the aircraft using limited resources and equipment, drawing on skills and knowledge he developed over the years.

Authorities have reportedly promised to allow him to conduct a test demonstration of the helicopter at the Bajaur Sports Complex on September 6. If the trial is successful, he will be permitted to attempt a flight.

The young inventor said he had been interested in machinery since childhood. He initially learned motorcycle repair and later developed a keen interest in machines, mechanical equipment and various tools.

Building the helicopter required him to travel to several cities, including Lahore, Timergara and Peshawar, to obtain the necessary parts and other materials.

Subhanullah said he could take on more advanced and larger projects if he received government support. He also claimed that, after completing his first helicopter, he now has the experience and ability to build another similar aircraft within a week.

Throughout the six-year project, his family supported and encouraged him despite the financial and other challenges involved.

Subhanullah belongs to a low-income working family in Bajaur. His family earns a livelihood by travelling to Punjab during the season to sell traditional footwear.

His homemade helicopter has attracted considerable attention locally, with residents expressing interest in the young man’s determination and technical skills.
