In an unusual turn of events, Karachi police has taken disciplinary action against an officer accused of practicing black magic on a senior superintendent of police (SSP) and his family, resulting in the forfeiture of two years of his service.

According to SSP Saqib Ibrahim, a deputy constable named Abdul Qayyum allegedly engaged in illicit and unethical practices involving the use of "taweez ganda" on him and his family members.

It was alleged that Abdul Qayyum obtained the names of the SSP's deceased relatives from the graveyard where they were buried, including the name of the SSP's mother. He then purportedly provided these names to another deputy constable, Ghulam Murtaza, to create the taweez.

The disciplinary order stated that Ghulam Murtaza confessed to his involvement in the matter at the instigation of Abdul Qayyum. Despite being issued show cause notices and summoned for oral testimony, Qayyum's responses were deemed unsatisfactory.

Qayyum refuted the accusations in his reply, asserting disbelief in "taweez ganda." Nonetheless, two years of his service were forfeited as punishment, and the order mentioned the possibility of his transfer to his hometown, Ghotki.

Qayyum has strongly denied the allegations, labeling them as a concerted effort to tarnish his reputation.
