A woman in south-central Sindh gave birth to a baby with four arms and four legs in a rare medical case, it emerged on Monday.

Surgeons at a private hospital successfully removed the additional limbs during an operation. The baby's condition is reported to be stable following the surgery.

According to local media reports, the Health ministry has not found any underlying health issues in the infant except for the birth deformity.

Polymelia is a rare birth defect where a person has more limbs than usual.

Studies show roughly 6 in 10,000 babies are born with limb malformations, usually linked to genes, chromosomes, or environmental factors.

Some extra limbs are fully functional, just like regular limbs. But others may not work at all or be underdeveloped. In these cases, surgery might be needed to prevent problems.
