KARACHI : In a landmark moment for Pakistan’s energy and trade sectors, the country received its first-ever shipment of crude oil from the United States on Wednesday, marking a significant step forward in bilateral economic cooperation.

The shipment, comprising one million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, arrived at Cnergyico’s Single Point Mooring facility in Hub, Balochistan.

The vessel, MT Pegasus, departed from Houston, Texas, on September 14 and has now set a record as the largest oil tanker ever to dock at a Pakistani port.

This historic delivery follows the Pakistan-US trade agreement signed on July 31, 2025, aimed at enhancing economic ties between Islamabad and Washington.

Cnergyico, the company behind the import, confirmed that a second shipment is expected in mid-November, with a third planned for 2026.

The arrival of MT Pegasus not only underscores the growing energy collaboration between the two nations but also signals a new chapter in Pakistan’s maritime and energy history.
