Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the industrial and agricultural sectors will receive additional electricity at subsidised rates for the next three years under the 'Roshan Maeeshat' power package.

According to a statement of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the announcement came during a meeting with a delegation comprising experts from the industrial and agricultural sectors, along with members of the business community.

Under the ‘Roshan Maeeshat Electricity Package’, the prime minister said that the current electricity rates, Rs34 per unit for industry and Rs38 per unit for agriculture would be substantially reduced, with extra units made available.

“From November 2025 to October 2028, both sectors will be supplied with additional electricity year-round at a rate of Rs22.98 per unit,” he stated. He assured that the financial impact of this initiative would not be transferred to domestic consumers or any other sector.

“The growth of industry and agriculture is essential to strengthening the national economy and creating jobs,” the premier emphasized.

He added, “We are taking every possible measure to boost the competitiveness of Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors and to improve the ease of doing business.”

Referring to the success of last year’s winter energy package, PM Shehbaz highlighted that the industrial and agricultural sectors had consumed an additional 410 gigawatt-hours of electricity, which helped revive production, increase exports, and create employment opportunities.
