Due to prolonged electricity loadshedding, an increasing number of households in Pakistan are turning to solar energy solutions to mitigate the impact of power outages.
However, consumers are facing higher costs as the prices of solar systems have risen significantly in November.
Reports indicate that the prices of on-grid solar systems have increased across various capacities, with hybrid systems also becoming more expensive due to the additional cost of batteries.
The price of a 5 kW solar system has risen by Rs100,000, now reaching Rs750,000. Similarly, the cost of a 7 kW system has jumped by Rs150,000, bringing the price to Rs850,000.
For larger systems, the price of a 10 kW solar system has increased by Rs200,000, now priced at Rs1.15 million. A 12 kW system has seen a price hike of Rs150,000, with the new price set at Rs1.25 million, while the cost of a 15 kW system has also risen by Rs150,000, reaching Rs1.4 million.
The price increases have raised concerns among potential buyers, who are seeking alternatives to the ongoing power shortages.
Industry experts suggest that the rising costs are primarily driven by inflation, higher component prices, and supply chain challenges.
