The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) wasted no time and initiated a crackdown on medicine distributors following this alarming surge in cases.
The issue came to light when it was reported that over 40 diabetes patients in Punjab had suffered a loss of eyesight due to these injections.
Responding swiftly, the provincial caretaker government imposed a two-week ban on the sale and usage of Avastin for ophthalmology-related treatments.
However, the situation has escalated, with the number of affected individuals now exceeding 70.
According to details, out of the 70 patients, 10 are from Multan, one from Bahawalpur, and three from Jhang who are currently receiving treatment at Nishtar Hospital.
Additional cases have also emerged in cities such as Lahore, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, and Faisalabad.
Authorities are now actively searching for two suspects, identified as Bilal and Naveed, in connection with this distressing incident.
