Pakistan reports around 3,000 blood cancer cases in children annually

 They revealed that approximately 3,000 children were diagnosed with blood cancer annually in Pakistan.

Experts noted that blood cancer is the most prevalent cancer among children globally, including in Pakistan.

They said that the prevalence of blood cancer in Pakistan is similar to that in other parts of the world, possibly influenced by factors such as high population growth, increased life expectancy, and more access to diagnosis and treatment facilities.

Dr. Naureen Mushtaq, an Associate Professor at Aga Khan University, highlighted that data from 13 treatment centers in major cities indicated that 2,000 to 3,000 children were diagnosed with the disease annually.

The most common forms of blood cancers in adults and children were identified as acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoid leukemia, respectively.

Environmental factors were linked to the development of most cancers, such as consumption of food contaminated with toxic chemicals, tobacco use, and radiation exposure.
