The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday notified a reduction of Rs1.89 per unit in the uniform electricity tariff for the period from August to October 2025.
According to the notification dated August 7, this quarterly adjustment will also apply to consumers of K-Electric (KE), except for lifeline and prepaid customers.
The discount of Rs1.8881 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) will be reflected in bills issued between August and October 2025.
Nepra clarified that distribution companies (Discos) must ensure compliance with relevant court orders when implementing the tariff changes.
Any bills issued before the notification will have the adjustment applied in the subsequent month.
Separately, Nepra also approved a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of Rs0.78 per unit for consumers of all ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDiscos), excluding KE, for August bills. This adjustment is based on variations in fuel charges during June 2025.
The FCA will be applicable to all customer categories except lifeline, protected, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), and prepaid users. The FCA amount will be listed separately on consumer bills, reflecting units consumed in June.
The authority stated that the actual fuel cost for June stood at Rs7.68/kWh, which was Rs0.65 lower than the reference cost of Rs8.3341/kWh, as submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G).
