Haider Ali released on bail, barred from leaving UK amid rape allegations

Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been released on bail after being arrested in Manchester over allegations of raping a woman.
According to UK media reports, Manchester Police have summoned the national cricketer again, two weeks after his release on bail. During this period, he has been barred from leaving the United Kingdom.
The alleged incident reportedly took place during the recent tour of England by the Pakistan Shaheens cricket team.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended Haider Ali from all cricket-related activities. In a statement, the PCB confirmed that the batsman is under investigation in a criminal case by Manchester Police, and therefore, has been provisionally suspended.
"After receiving a report on Monday 4 August 2025 of a rape, we have arrested a 24-year-old man. It's alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday 23 July 2025 at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been bailed pending further enquiries. The victim is being supported by officers," Reuters quoted the Greater Manchester Police as saying.

The board added that Haider Ali will be provided legal assistance to ensure his rights are safeguarded. He will remain suspended until the case reaches a conclusion, after which the PCB will decide on any disciplinary measures.
The PCB further stated it would not comment further while legal proceedings are ongoing.
"Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary," a statement by the cricket board said.
Haider Ali, who debuted in 2020, has appeared in 35 T20 internationals and two ODIs.
