Karachi: The crackdown on the sale of chemically adulterated milk continued in Karachi as authorities sealed seven more milk shops, raising the total number of sealed outlets to 27.
According to a statement issued by the Karachi Commissioner’s Office, the campaign against adulterated milk is ongoing.
On Tuesday, seven shops were sealed for selling substandard and unsafe milk — three in District South, three in District East, and one in District Malir.
A spokesperson for the Commissioner said that 27 milk shops have been sealed over the past two days as part of the city-wide operation.
The decision was reaffirmed in a meeting chaired by Karachi Commissioner Hasan Naqvi, which was attended by the Director General of the Sindh Food Authority and other officials.
It was agreed that inspections and anti-adulteration drives would continue without interruption.
Commissioner Hasan Naqvi stated that sealed milk shops will not be reopened without heavy fines, adding that shop owners will also be required to provide a written assurance to sell unadulterated, safe milk in the future.
