Serious questions have been raised over security and administrative oversight at PIMS Hospital after a young man posing as a doctor was arrested while allegedly performing duties at the hospital.
A case has been registered at Karachi Company Police Station, and an investigation has been launched.
The suspect, identified as Mazhar Manzoor, was present in the hospital’s emergency department posing as a doctor.
He was questioned after staff became suspicious, which led to the discovery of his alleged impersonation.
During a search, police recovered a stethoscope and a fake medical officer’s stamp from his possession. PIMS Hospital administration detained the suspect and handed him over to Karachi Company police.
Police produced the suspect before a court and obtained his physical remand.
Investigators are now working to determine why Mazhar Manzoor was impersonating a doctor at PIMS Hospital, how long he had been visiting the hospital, and whether he had interacted with any patients or medical staff during his time there.
