Renowned actor Ushna Shah mourned the death of prominent Palestinian figure Khaled Nabhan (Abu Diaa) in an Israeli airstrike on Monday.
Taking to X, Ushna shared her heartbreak over Khaled Nabhan’s killing, a loss that has deeply affected pro-Palestinian supporters worldwide.
“Khaled, dear Khaled, Abu Diaa Nabhan has been killed; a martyr now, reunited with his Reem,” she wrote, referring to his late granddaughter.
She voiced her anguish over the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, condemning the global inaction. “We bear witness to the destruction of a people, a genocide. We bear witness as we stay silent and the world turns. Ya Allah, do something!” she lamented.
Ushna highlighted the emotional connection many felt with Khaled, particularly those following the Gaza crisis closely.
“For those of us who have witnessed this genocide virtually, whose feeds are flooded with the heartbreaking scenes of Palestinian suffering, we saw our fathers in Khaled. The younger ones saw their grandfathers.”
She praised Khaled’s resilience and humanity, saying, “He endured the greatest loss and still comforted Gaza’s children. He was a guardian, an angel, the ultimate father figure. We loved him. We mourn him so deeply.”
Ushna concluded her heartfelt post by stating, “We scream for you, Gaza. We pray for you.”
The Israeli occupation army killed Khaled Nabhan in an airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Abu Diyaa had become a beloved Palestinian figure on social media after he was seen bidding farewell to his deceased granddaughter and calling her "soul of my soul," a hearflet expression he used to describe the young girl, who was also killed in an earlier Israeli attack.
Abu Diyaa became a symbol of resilience and love after a viral video showed him bidding an emotional farewell to his deceased granddaughter, whom he adored deeply.
He was known for consoling grieving families, engaging in humanitarian work, and even caring for Gaza’s stray cats.
