American rapper and producer Jonathan H Smith, widely known as Lil Jon, has announced that he has converted to Islam.
The announcement was made by Smith in an Instagram post, where he expressed gratitude to his friends for their love and support.
“Thank you so much brother and sister for the outpouring of love and positivity,” he wrote.
He also displayed gratefulness to the almighty God by adding ‘Allhumduillah’ in the caption of the post.
The rapper converted to Islam on Friday in a large congregation gathering at King Fahad Mosque in Los Angeles, USA.
A video circulating on social media showed the American rapper reciting the Kalma Shahada in Arabic and then English under the guidance of the imam of the mosque.
Lil Jon, who is widely known for his hit songs like ‘Yeah’, ‘Turn Down for What’, ‘Lovers and Friends,' and ‘Let go’, is now on the list of influential persons who embraced Islam in recent years.
Following writer and activist Shaun King, and stem cell scientist Henry Larson, Lil Jon was a third who converted to Islam in the first week of Ramadan.
Rapper and producer born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972, garnered fame for his pioneering role in hip-hop in the early 2000s.
A few weeks ago, Lil Jon released his album named ‘Total Mediation’, receiving significant attention from fans. About which he shared his journey towards mindfulness.
He emphasised the importance of finding balance amidst life’s challenges.
