Comedian-singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan's viral song "Bado Badi" was deleted from his YouTube channel and other platforms on June 6 due to copyright claims.
However, the song remains available on the Vital Music channel, where it has been viewed millions of times.
Khan has now issued a clarification stating that his song was not a copy of the popular song "Bado Badi" released 50 years ago.
In a YouTube video, Khan addressed his fans' messages and phone calls, asking him to restore the song on YouTube. He assured them that he would try his best to do so.
According to Khan, the original song, sung by legendary artist Noor Jahan, was named "Akh Ladi Bado Badi", whereas his version was titled "Hai Hai Oye Hoye Bado Badi".
He claimed that his song is completely different from the old one, with only two similar lines.
Khan stated that he has done thorough research on the matter and is confident that his song does not infringe on any copyrights.
The social media sensation expressed his disappointment, saying that his song was removed under copyright claims without justification.
He believes that those responsible for the deletion "had nothing better to do".
"Noor Jahan's original song was for a male, my version is for a female," the singer added.
The song was originally performed by the legendary Madam Noor Jahan for the 1973 film Banarsi Thug, starring Firdous, Ejaz and Munawar Zarif, with its composition arranged by Bakhshi Wazeer Sahib.
