Renowened actor Faysal Quraishi became angry at a comedy show after a question from an audience member about the repetitive themes in Pakistani dramas. Quraishi maintained that filmmakers and drama creators in Paksitan offer a versatyile content.
Quraishi, who was on the show to promote his upcoming film Deemak, reacted strongly when a female audience member questioned the monotonous storylines of Pakistani serials.
The woman asked why most dramas follow the same storyline or focus on the typical 'saas-bahu' conflicts, and what makes Deemak different from them.
Clearly irritated, Faisal Qureshi responded, "Which dramas are the same? Name them. I don’t think all dramas run at the same pace or follow the same story. In the last two to three years, we’ve worked on a variety of subjects."

He went on to list several recent dramas as examples of diverse storytelling, “Khai, Ishq Murshid, Kabli Pulao, Bahrupiya, Dunyapur, Faraar, Sarab, and Raja Rani.” None of these are typical saas-bahu dramas. So, when exactly are we making the same stories over and over?
Samina Peerzada chimed in, acknowledging the prevalence of typical drama serials currently airing. She attributed this to the over 50 channels seeking content, leading them to rely on such predictable storylines.
Later, Faysal Quraishi concurred that similar conventional plots exist, but specifically in soaps. He advised the audience to watch serials over soaps, highlighting that soaps often feature repetitive storylines.
The video clip of the interaction quickly went viral on social media, sparking a flurry of mixed reactions. While many users supported Quraishi’s defence of the evolving drama industry, others felt the actor could have responded more patiently and constructively to a viewer’s perspective.
