French luxury fashion brand Balenciaga, known for its unconventional designs, has introduced a peculiar new slip-on called The Zero.
Resembling a shoe sole that leaves most of the foot exposed except for the big toe, the design has left many wondering if it's truly meant for wearing.
Priced at $450 USD (approximately ₨125,000), The Zero is crafted using a 3D model and lightweight EVA foam.
These minimalist shoes, part of Balenciaga’s Fall 2025 collection, come in human skin-tone shades with no added embellishments, mimicking the natural appearance of the human foot.
Balenciaga is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of fashion, having previously launched sock-like shoes, oversized 10XL sneakers, and even hosting a mud pit fashion show in 2023.
While proponents of the barefoot shoe trend argue that it promotes better foot stability, reduces back pain, and allows for natural movement compared to traditional footwear, the design has sparked debate online.
Some social media users are excited to own The Zero, praising its unique concept, while others questioned its comfort, practicality, and risk of injury.
Critics also raised concerns about its steep price tag considering its minimalist design .
