Mishi Khan says Saba Qamar’s comments on Karachi were ‘disrespectful’

Actor Mishi Khan criticised Lollywood star Saba Qamar over her remarks about Karachi, saying that her comments showed disrespect toward the city that has given work and fame to countless artists.

Taking to Instagram, Mishi Khan shared a video message responding to Saba Qamar’s statement in which she expressed reluctance to live in Karachi. In an interview, Saba had said, “Astaghfirullah, though one shouldn’t say that as times can change, but I never moved to Karachi. I prefer Islamabad first, then Lahore and Karachi.”

When asked if she would consider buying a home in Karachi, Saba firmly refused, saying she preferred living in houses rather than apartments. She also mentioned that while she doesn’t have a large social circle, she enjoys living close to nature in open and spacious surroundings.

Reacting to Saba’s comments, Mishi Khan said, “Saba Qamar recently said that she doesn’t want to live in Karachi and even said ‘Astaghfirullah.’ Artists from Lahore come to Karachi to find work, gain recognition, and earn money through their craft. Saba herself has worked extensively in Karachi, so I didn’t like her saying that about the city.”

Mishi went on to compare Saba’s remarks with artists in India, saying, “People go to Mumbai to find work, but no artist has ever spoken ill of the city despite its problems. Everyone earns their livelihood and fame from Karachi. Speaking negatively about it wasn’t in good taste. Even if she had a bad experience, she could have expressed it differently.”

Concluding her statement, Mishi said, “We are all from Karachi, and we felt bad when she said ‘Astaghfirullah.’ One should always respect the place that gives you fame, money, and respect. You must be careful with your choice of words.”
