Faryal Mehmood opened up about the complexities of her marriage to Daniyal Raheal, acknowledging that during her marriage, she faced mental distress and engaged in mutual ‘emotional abuse’ with her ex-husband.

The ‘Wakhri’ star discussed the stigmatisation of divorced women and how one could change this societal perspective. She noted, "It's mostly men who think like that... Fathers telling their daughters to go to the cemetery from their marital home instead of their own is one of the meanest things you could say to someone you brought into the world."

Faryal added that separating from a toxic relationship can offer women a chance to reclaim their lives and live on their own terms. "Everyone deserves another chance, don't we?" she said.

She emphasised the importance of prioritising safety and well-being, while acknowledging that women have immense power of forgiveness, but leaving a toxic relationship is crucial for personal growth and self-preservation.

Continuing her conversation, she shared, , “Why should I talk about others and not about me. When I was married, we were having problems and I was mentally disturbed and it involved mental abuse.”

The ‘Raqeeb Se’ actor openly confessed that, despite enduring mental anguish, she repeatedly returned to her husband, driven by her love for him as a woman. She emphasised the challenge of ending a relationship, and urged against judging women struggling to leave due to their enduring love for their partners, despite grappling with toxicity in a relationship.

She admitted that the mental strain was not one-sided; both she and her ex-husband were contributors to the ongoing emotional challenges in their marriage, “this continued on both sides,” she mentioned.

Faryal Mehmood said that when a woman loves a man, she tolerates his violence and inappropriate behaviour and all this seems fine at the time.

Faryal Mahmood confirmed her divorce in March 2022, having quietly married actor Daniyal Raheel in May 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
