“Not even enemies can destroy Pakistan like this:” Hina Bayat slams govt over internet disruption

Veteran actor Hina Khwaja Bayat lashed out at the government over the ongoing internet disruption in Pakistan, which has led to slower browsing speed and hindered access to Google services and Meta platforms.

The actress took to her Instagram account to demand an explanation from the government regarding the installation of a firewall, which is a security device to monitor content and network traffic.

She went on to ask “what the government fears so much” that it has to shut down the internet in the country, causing irreversible damage to the economy.

“Not even the enemy can destroy Pakistan like this,” Hina stated in anger.

She urged the government and armed forces to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and swiftly resolve the connectivity issues.

"Pakistan cannot withstand further economic turmoil, and businesses are suffering immense losses due to these internet shutdowns," Hina maintained.

Hina's criticism follows recent internet disruptions that have occurred over the past few days, making it difficult for people to download or access data online.

Freelancers in Pakistan are bearing the brunt of ongoing internet disruptions, with 2.5 million at risk of losing their online jobs due to slower communication with clients and difficulties completing tasks.

The internet disruptions are primarily affecting internet services on cellular devices, resulting in slow browsing and interrupted access to social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.

Several freelancers took to social media to complain about losing clients due to slow communication and their inability to meet deadlines.
