Police have formed a six-member committee to investigate the mysterious death of actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali, whose decomposed body was found in an apartment in Karachi's DHA.
The 32-year-old actor was found dead on July 8 in her flat located in Defence Phase VI’s Ittehad Commercial area, where she had been residing alone.
According to a notification, the inquiry will be led by Acting SP Clifton Imran Jagirani and will include SDPO Defence Aurangzeb Khattak, ASP Nida Junaid, SHO Gizri Muhammad Farooq, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Amjad, and Constable Muhammad Adeel from the IT branch as its members.
The team has been tasked with determining whether the death was natural, suicide, or involved foul play.
The committee is also required to provide daily briefings to the SSP South on the investigation's progress.
Earlier, the police retrieved data from the deceased’s electronic devices, including three mobile phones, a tablet, and a laptop. Investigators were able to unlock the devices using passwords found in a personal diary recovered from the scene.
Authorities have so far recorded statements of two people, while two others have been summoned for questioning.
Investigators said that the late actor regularly visited a gym and a beauty salon. Her gym trainer and close acquaintances will be approached to help reconstruct her final months.
