Renowned actor Javeria Saud faced backlash on social media after delightedly admitting that she starred in a TV commercial for the Coca-Cola company with her husband, while her children criticised their parents for not boycotting the pro-Israel brand.
Javeria and her husband Saud Qasmi, appeared on a morning show where the duo shared that they recently worked in a TV commercial for Coca-Cola, a company that has been on the boycott list due to its plants in illegal Israeli settlements.
The Baby Baji actor shared that she was offered an advertisement deal by a multinational beverage company, which invited her family to Turkey to shoot the commercial.
“They offered good money and it is also beneficial for your career. When I told my children, they said they were boycotting the brand,” she explained.
Javeria informed the brand that her children would not participate due to the boycott, so the company invited her and Saud instead and arranged for other children to be in the commercial.
After finalising the deal, her children were upset. She responded by saying, “You are boycotting, we aren’t. We can do the commercial.”
The Paristaan actor shared that her children then told her, “This is the least we could do for them. We don’t have money or the ability to fight to protect them, but this is the bare minimum we can do to show solidarity with them.”
During the shoot, her children continued to express their disappointment, sending messages shaming her "for participating in the commercial for money and not supporting the boycott."
Amidst the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, which has intensified calls for boycotting pro-Israel brands globally, netizens criticised Javeria’s “insensitive” behavior and disregard for the issue and the boycott movement.
“It’s disgusting how they are laughing about it,” an Instagram user commented.
Earlier, Javeria earned praise after sharing an Instagram post in which she commended her children for refusing to participate in a Coca-Cola television commercial in light of the ongoing boycott campaign targeting Israel over its onslaught on Gaza.
