Veteran actress Asma Abbas has responded strongly to criticism over her house help being featured in her vlogs. She emphasised the importance of treating domestic workers with dignity and respect.
In a heartfelt video statement, the veteran actress addressed the backlash and shut down those who demeaned her staff, urging people to unsubscribe from her channel if they had an issue with it.
“I was reading a few comments on my video, and I was shocked by the hateful remarks directed at Chanda,” Asma said, referring to one of her house help. “They were truly painful.”
Asma made it clear that no one should be looked down upon for the work they do.

“I don’t even use the word ‘maid’, it doesn’t exist for me,” she stated. “They are my house help, and they are extremely important to me. Without them, I can’t survive. They support me day and night.”
The actress expressed her disappointment over some viewers’ reactions, especially those who questioned the presence of her staff in her content. “People were commenting, ‘Why do we have to hear stories about your maid?’ or ‘We’re not interested in her life.’ That upset me deeply,” she shared.
She further added, “I can never pay them enough for their loyalty, love, respect, and hard work. They are like my family. If anyone is not interested in my vlogs because of them, they are free to leave, unfollow, or block my channel.”

In addition to defending her house help, Asma also responded to personal attacks about her appearance, saying, “Some comments said, ‘You’re an old woman with no shame,’ or ‘You’re wearing such vulgar dresses at this age,’ and even, ‘You’re about to die.’ I usually ignore these, but the remarks about my staff truly broke my heart,” she explained.
She concluded with a powerful message: “What is the use of all your worship if you can’t treat your house help with basic respect and equality? These people are like my children.”
