A district and sessions court in Karachi on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for renowned YouTuber Yasir Shami in a case pertaining to allegedly leaking the late host and televangelist Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain's obscene videos to social media.
The news was shared by the former politician's first wife, Syeda Bushra Iqbal, on her Instagram handle.
According to her, there are two accused in the obscene video leak case, one Liaquat's third wife Dania Shah, who filmed, displayed, transmitted and leaked the video.
Second, YouTuber Yasir Shami, who acquired the obscene video from Dania Malik and then uploaded it on his channel, she said.
"Waiting for FIA to arrest Yasir Shami and present him before court to execute the court orders. In sha Allah Aamir Liaquat will get justice soon," Bushra added.
Liaquat passed away on June 9 last year under mysterious circumstances. He was found unconscious at his house situated in Khudadad Colony of Karachi. The 50-year-old was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Some objectionable videos of Hussain had gone viral weeks before his death and couple of days after news broke of the dissolution of his third marriage.
The indecent videos featured the late politician in a state of complete undress in his home, allegedly after the consumption of an illegal substance.
Later, a case was filed by Dua Aamir, the deceased TV host's daughter against Shah, under allegations of links with the controversial videos' leak.
On January 26, 2023, a judicial magistrate (East) indicted Dania Shah in the case and she was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cyber crime wing.
