The Pakistan Navy on Friday stated it is fully prepared to respond to any potential military action by India, following British media reports that India has deployed a significant naval strike group near Pakistan’s coastline.

According to The Telegraph, India has moved its western fleet, including an aircraft carrier, destroyers, and frigates, closer to the northern Arabian Sea—placing it within striking distance of Karachi. The strike group is reportedly stationed 300 to 400 miles from Pakistan's coast.

The statement from the Navy comes in the wake of increased hostilities between the two countries. On May 7, India allegedly launched an unprovoked missile strike on civilian areas in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), killing at least 31 civilians.

Pakistan responded by reportedly downing five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, and dozens of drones.

Pakistan’s military has also claimed it has intercepted nearly 80 Indian drones, including Israeli-manufactured IAI Heron UAVs.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that Pakistan would not de-escalate and that India would face a response “in our own timing.”
