PPP, PML-N plans to introduce 27th amendment for local government reforms

Following the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the government is planning to introduce another change in the constitution of Pakistan by presenting the 27th amendment related to the local bodies.
The details were shared by the sources after the meeting of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Lahore.
Political parties have not issued any statemetn regarding the matter. Howerver, the press release shared by the Prime Minister's Office stated that the country’s political issues were discussed in the meeting.
The statement quoted Premier Shehbaz as saying, “PPP is a key ally of the government, which had supported every step of the authority has been taken for the economic stability.
“27th Amendment did feature in the meeting held at PM Shehbaz's Model Town residence,” claimed the sources.
In the discussion, the MQM's demand for local body empowerment was reviewed. The MQM leader supported the 26th Amendment, on the condition that another constitutional change regarding local government also occurred.
According to reports, the ruling parties agreed to introduce the 27th constitutional amendment, aiming to address the concerns raised by the coalition member MQM.
Prime Minister Advisor for Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, confirmed on Geo News that the top brass of the ruling coalition discussed the 27th amendment in the meeting.
