Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral and burial ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, according to Indian media.
The funeral, which was initially scheduled for March, was delayed due to the war.
Iranian officials have now announced that the ceremonies will take place in different cities from July 4 to July 9.
Indian media reports said that the invitation sent to Prime Minister Modi highlights the diplomatic ties between India and Iran, despite tensions in the region.
As per the report, the main funeral ceremony will begin on July 4 at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla complex, where Khamenei’s body will be kept for public viewing before burial.
