A recently conducted survey by Gallup Pakistan revealed that 41 percent people want to eat mutton (goat meat) in their daily meals instead of beef or chicken in a cash-strapped country.

The sample size of the survey, conducted between 3 to 18 January, was 1,023 men and women from urban and rural areas of all four provinces of the country.

The respondents were asked a question: “What kind of meat do you like the most?

In response, almost 41 percent Pakistanis replied that they prefer eating mutton on their daily food table, while 25 people gave answers in favour of beef.

However, chicken meat came in third position with a 23 percent approval rating from the respondents.

On the other hand, 11 percent respondents said that they don't have any choice for specific meat in their daily meals.

The survey company claimed that the error margin in their study is estimated at just 2 percent at the confidence level of 95%.

"The methodology used for data collection was telephonic surveys (CATI)," it added.
