Aleema Khan, sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, on Friday termed the government's offer for his check-up at Rawalpindi's Al Shifa hospital a “clear conspiracy”.
Sharing a statement of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on X, she wrote: “This is a clear conspiracy on the part of the government. We do not want Imran Khan to be treated at Al Shifa Rawalpindi.”
Earlier, Chaudhry said that wherever Imran Khan wanted to go for a check-up, he would be taken there, including Al-Shifa.
“We have repeatedly and unequivocally stated that Imran Khan must be treated at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, the facility where the identified specialists are based,” Aleema said.
“Any examination or treatment must take place there, under the direct supervision of his personal medical team and Dr. Uzma Khan,” she added.
Aleema Khan also expressed fears that authorities could move him without notice.
“There are serious concerns that he may be forcefully moved in the middle of the night to Al Shifa Eye Hospital, Rawalpindi without informing his family or his personal doctors,” she said.
“Afterwards, it may be falsely claimed that Imran Khan himself requested to be taken there. The reality is that he may not even be aware of this hospital’s existence,” she said.
Aleema Khan said the family had “zero trust” in those handling his medical care and warned that the proposed arrangement was unacceptable.
