Almost 80% Pakistani men and women are married: survey

A recent survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan has shed light on the marital status of citizens in the country.
The survey, which took place from June 28 to July 10, involved 755 men and women from all four provinces, with participants contacted by telephone.
The findings indicated that a majority 80 percent of Pakistanis are married, while 20 percent reported being unmarried.
Interestingly, the rate of marriage is higher among women and rural populations.
In the survey, 83 percent of rural respondents and 75 percent of urban people claimed to be married.
Women lead the way in marriage rates, with a 12 percent higher rate compared to men, according to Gallup.
The survey also explored the age dynamics of marriage, revealing that 56 percent of 30-year-olds and 96 percent of those above 50 years of age are married.
In terms of marriage duration, 30 percent of respondents reported being married for 5-10 years, followed by 17 percent for 2-5 years, 17 percent for 10-15 years, and 13 percent for over 25 years.
The comprehensive survey provides valuable insights into the marital landscape of Pakistan, highlighting trends and patterns that can inform policy and social initiatives.
