Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has been discharged from a hospital in London after being admitted for the second time in a month.

Hussain was taken to the hospital’s emergency ward late on Friday, where he stayed for nine hours and underwent multiple tests, senior MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi said in a statement on social media.

He said that Hussain underwent a blood test, ECG, chest X-ray, and oxygen level monitoring. Following various tests, doctors diagnosed him with severe flu and a chest infection, he added.

They prescribed antibiotics and other medications, and advised him to take complete rest, Azizabadi said.

“Altaf Hussain expressed his gratitude to all the workers and the public for praying for his recovery during his illness,” he added.

Hussain was last hospitalised on July 10 with what the party described as a “severe illness”, requiring several tests and blood transfusions before being discharged on 23 July.
