Another policeman attacked in Karachi

A policeman was injured in a gun attack at the Korangi causeway on Monday evening.

According to police officials, the cop, who was in uniform at the time, sustained four bullet wounds.

Preliminary reports suggested the officer was either en route to or returning from duty when he was targeted.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Tariq Nawaz stated that the attackers were riding a motorcycle and opened fire from behind.

The injured officer was being shifted to a private hospital for medical treatment, he added.

An investigation has been launched to identify the assailants.

Earlier on June 1, armed men had shot dead a policeman in what police described as a targeted attack near Sohrab Goth.

On May 27, an on-duty traffic cop was killed within the remit of the Boat Basin police station.
