Ancient copies and manuscripts of the Holy Quran have been stolen from Jabal-e-Noor, or "Mountain of Light," in Quetta, as unknown thieves absconded with at least 150 invaluable pieces of the holy book from protective cases.
The incident took place at the majestic Koh-i-Chiltan mountain in southern Quetta, home to a remarkable piece of heritage known as Jabal-e-Noorul Quran, created by two visionary brothers in 1992, the site encompasses over six to seven centuries of rich spiritual history.
"At least 150 manuscripts and ancient Quranic pages were stolen after thieves broke into the protective glass cases inside the tunnel," said In-charge of Jabal-e-Noor, Ajmal Khan.
According to police, a case was registered against unknown individuals after a complaint filed by the administration of the Holy Tunnel. However, no arrests have been made.

It is pertinent to mention here that Abdul Rashid, a resident of Quetta, constructed the Holy Tunnel to safeguard the spiritual heritage.
"We have buried at least five million sacks of old Qurans," AFP quoted Jabal-e-Noor administrator Haji Muzaffar Ali as saying.
He added that hundreds of sacks filled with copies of the holy book are now lying exposed on the hillside, as administrators struggle to find adequate storage space.
Jabal-e-Noor is named after the mountain in Saudi Arabia where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is believed to have received the first verses of the Quran.
