Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari expressed regret over her harsh remarks made in response to online trolling of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s clothing. She admitted that she lost her temper and spoke out of frustration.
Speaking on a talk show hosted by Shahzeb Khanzada, Bukhari was questioned about her comments, in which she had fiercely lashed out at trolls and remarked that “their mothers would not even want to wear clothes.”
Clarifying her stance, Bukhari said she should not have made the statement in that manner, but insisted her anger stemmed from the disrespectful and unnecessary personal attacks being hurled at the Chief Minister.
She said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has been subjected to “obscene” trolling by opponents, who constantly target her clothing to stir controversy.
“I regret making such remarks in frustration. We are also mothers, yet we face trolling day and night. Still, I believe I should have shown restraint,” Bukhari admitted.
“I shouldn’t have lost my temper, and I realised it later,” she added, noting that there is an organized campaign to malign CM Maryam over her attire. “The language used against her is often obscene,” she stressed.

Bukhari further said that even Maryam’s inspection of flood-affected areas in a boat was turned into a controversy. She clarified that the PML-N does not endorse trolling, claiming such behaviour is common on the “other side,” in reference to the PTI.
“There is always criticism about what CM Maryam is wearing, but no one talks about her performance or how she is serving the people,” she remarked.
At one point, while lashing out at critics, Bukhari commented that even those who idolize other women for their fashion should consider Maryam’s clothing respectable.
However, the host Shahzeb Khanzada interrupted, pointing out that she was unfairly targeting women in her defence of the Chief Minister.
