Bakhtawar, Fawad spar on X over educational standards at Sindh universities

A war of words broke out on X between PPP leader Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry over the performance and quality of universities established in Sindh.

The exchange began when Bakhtawar highlighted her party’s record in higher education. In a post, she wrote: “Since 1947 to 2008 there were 10 universities established in 61 YEARS (mostly in 90s) but under #PPP 17 years… 30 universities and 18 campuses 😉♥️🖤💚 — not even half the time but triple the performance #ThisIsPPP.”

Reacting to the post, Fawad Chaudhry questioned the quality of these institutions, saying: “Most of these universities are crap and instead of universities focus should be on Schools.”

Bakhtawar responded sharply, saying, “I must have missed your photoshoot when you personally visited each of the 30 universities and 18 campuses built in the last 17 years of Sindh therefore allowing you an opinion. Must be confusing since your bar is the infamous Al Qadir university trust (case). Can’t compare.”

Fawad Chaudhry then issued a detailed reply, softening his tone but standing by his criticism.

He wrote: “See I have no problem with your intentions, I am very sure you want to see top class universities but you may appreciate not a single invention or paper worth printing in any acclaimed Journal has been generated by these universities, this shows money spent on these Universities is going to the drains, first comes first you need good schools for university worth students.. this is not a criticism this is an opinion, you may differ.”
