The house of Baloch leader Mir Shafiq Mengal in Khuzdar has been attacked through a well-coordinated terrorist strike by the outlawed terrorist group Balochistan Liberation Army on Wednesday.
According to early reports, the strike started off with two explosions through Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), suspected to be suicide car bombs, in an attempt to penetrate the perimeter fence of the building.
The number of terrorists involved in the strike is reported to be 12: out of which, seven terrorists entered the premises while five terrorists were deployed in the outer cordon providing covering fire.
Mengal and his guards managed to successfully resist the attack, eliminating all the seven terrorists who made it into the building, which included both the suicide bombers as well.
The Quick Response Force was called upon to support Mengal's men, and they managed to eliminate the other five terrorists who were outside the premises.
The whole operation has come to an end now. The total casualties amongst Mengal’s security detail are twelve and Mengal is said to be alive.
Further details regarding the casualties amongst the attackers have not been disclosed yet.
