The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has chosen Islamabad’s F-9 Park as the site for a proposed cricket stadium and has engaged former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif for technical guidance, sources said on Monday.
According to sources, Latif will assist the CDA in matters related to the stadium’s design and technical aspects. He previously played a significant role in the development of the Islamabad Club.
The CDA is considering legal aspects stemming from Supreme Court rulings on green area protection. Proposals under review include retaining most of the park’s space as a green area, with a design inspired by stadiums in South Africa and the West Indies where some enclosures feature open green sections.
Officials said the CDA may approach the Supreme Court for clearance to proceed with construction. The Supreme Court had earlier halted plans to build a stadium in Shakarparian.
