In a message on the 7th anniversary of 'Operation Swift Retort', Pakistan’s top military leadership on Friday reiterated its unwavering commitment to Pakistan's national security and regional peace, emphasising the readiness of the armed forces to counter any threats.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu honoured what they called the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of the country’s armed forces.
Launched on February 27, 2019, Operation Swift Retort was carried out a day after Indian airstrikes in Balakot, the ISPR said, adding that the operation reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.
The statement said the operation demonstrated the “operational excellence and readiness” of the armed forces and effectively deterred further aggression while restoring strategic balance in the region.
The Field Marshal and service chiefs reiterated their “unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s national security and regional peace,” adding that the armed forces remain prepared to counter any threat.
“Pakistan’s military remains vigilant to ensure the protection of the nation,” the statement said, adding that the country continues to play its role in promoting global stability and peace.
