The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday ordered the removal of barricades and encroachments from outside all key buildings, including the Rangers headquarters, Governor House, and CM House in Karachi.

The order was issued during a hearing of an anti-encroachment case at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa.

The court directed the concerned authorities to remove all encroachments within three days and submit a report to the court.

During the hearing, CJP Isa said that obstructing the free movement of people is illegal.

"The bill for the removal of encroachments should be sent to the seniour officers, and the expenses should be collected from their pocket," the top judge noted.

The court also ordered that roads owned by the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) will be cleared, and expenses related to encroachment removal be collected from the encroachers.
