Govt keeps petrol, diesel prices unchanged for next two days

After increasing for five consecutive days, the government in a notice on Saturday announced that petrol prices would be kept unchanged for the next two days owing to the non-publication of Platts prices during the weekend period.

As per the notice by the Ministry of Petroleum, petrol prices would be kept unchanged during July 26 and 27, 2026, on account of the non-publication of Platts prices during the weekend.

After the announcement, petrol would still cost Rs335.18 per litre and HSD Rs383.46 per litre, both of which were fixed on Friday.

Last week, the government had started the process of reviewing petrol prices daily against volatility in international oil prices in light of the renewed hostilities in the Middle East region.

In the newly introduced system, petrol prices increased by Rs24.47 while HSD prices rose by Rs60.16 since last week.

Daily fuel prices are calculated based on the seven-day moving average of international market rates in line with the international norms.

On Thursday, oil prices jumped to $100 a barrel for the first time since May, technology giants dragged down US stocks, and borrowing costs in Europe surged to multi-year highs.
